TITLE
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH MILLER CABLE COMPANY FOR THE REPAIR OF GRANVILLE STREET TRAFFIC SIGNALS; TO REQUEST A SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION; WAIVE SECOND READING; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.
BODY
WHEREAS, this project consists of repairing and/or replacing five traffic signal pole foundations along Granville Street at the intersections of Flint Ridge/Granville, Lincoln Circle/Granville, and Mill Street/Granville; and
WHEREAS, the foundations were found to have structural deficiencies that required immediate action; and
WHEREAS, temporary traffic signals have been installed while work is completed for the needed repairs; and
WHEREAS, the overall traffic pattern is not expected to be impacted by the maintenance work, but temporary lane closures and intermittent flagging operations may occur while work is being completed; and
WHEREAS, bids were opened and reviewed on August 12, 2021, and in total, four bids were received; and
WHEREAS, Miller Cable Company was the lowest responsive and responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, a supplemental appropriation was previously requested as part of Ordinance ORD-0036-2021, to fund these emergency signal repairs, however it was stated then that additional funds may be needed once bids were received; and
WHEREAS, since the bid opening, an additional supplemental in the amount of $122,439.41is requested to cover construction, contingency, inspection, and costs already incurred for the emergency repairs; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to proceed with this Ordinance for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety, and welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
