TO RENAME DISCOVERY PARK AS VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, it has been suggested by many citizens and Council members that Discovery Park be renamed as VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK since the Veterans memorial is there and the monolith will be coming soon to be installed with the eternal flame; and
WHEREAS, the Park Board has made the recommendation that the park be renamed VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK; and
WHEREAS, it is prudent to rename this park at the earliest possible date, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That Discovery Park is hereby renamed as VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK to serve as a memorial to the veterans of the tri-community area of Gahanna, New Albany and Blacklick.
Section 2. That, for reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation, and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and upon the date of signing of the Mayor.
