WHEREAS, the Administration met with Whiteboard to discuss providing the City with assistance in developing an improved information infrastructure for our community; and

 

WHEREAS, this would include an inventory of the current broadband, fiber and infrastructure assets that exist in Gahanna today, and create a Strategic Technology Economic Development Plan; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Service has recommended we proceed with Whiteboard; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward to make this information available for the community as soon as possible, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with WHITEBOARD BROADBAND SOLUTIONS, LLC, for assistance in developing an improved information infrastructure for the City, in accordance with City specifications; said contract attached as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($30,000) is hereby appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund, to Account No. 101.145.5553, Engineering Telecommunications Capital, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That ORD-0001-2006, passed January 2, 2006, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
