TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH CARGILL, INC., FOR PURCHASE OF ROCK SALT FOR THE 2001-2002 SEASON.

WHEREAS, bids were opened on August 31, 2001, and all bids were rejected by the Director of Public Service, pursuant to Council authorization; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Service has recommended that the City purchase rock salt through the Southwest Ohio Purchasers for Government; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable to proceed with this purchase at the earliest possible date due to the upcoming winter season;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into contract for purchase of rock salt for the 2001-2002 season with CARGILL, INC., Salt Division, North Olmstead, Ohio, in accordance with bid and City specifications.
Section 2. That funding was set aside in the 2001 Appropriations to Account No. 220.330.5321, Street Material, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That the balance of the funding will be set aside in the 2002 Appropriations to Account No. 220.330.5321, Street Material, to cover the herein costs.
Section 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passabe this Council and 30 days after signature of approval by the Mayor.
