AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH EMH&T FOR ENGINEERING & DESIGN OF IMPROVEMENTS TO THE INTERSECTION OF TAYLOR STATION AND CLAYCRAFT ROADS.

WHEREAS, results from a 2017 traffic analysis of the intersection of Taylor Station and Claycraft Roads indicated significant congestion and traffic delays for commuters; and

 

WHEREAS, the proposed intersection improvements would increase the “Level of Service” to an A from E, which will reduce delays and congestion while promoting economic development; and

 

WHEREAS, a proposal has been received from Evans, Mechwart, Hambleton & Tilton, Inc., and the Director of Public Service has recommended them for preliminary engineering & design of the intersection;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with EMH&T, 5500 New Albany Road, Columbus, Ohio, 43054, to perform preliminary engineering & design for improvements to the intersection of Taylor Station and Claycraft Roads; said Contract attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2. That funding in the amount of NINETY NINE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED SIXTY FIVE DOLLARS AND ZERO CENTS ($99,465.00) is available in Account No. 325.06.000.5500, Capital Improvements Capital Maintenance, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That pursuant to Gahanna City Code Section 135.5(e)(6) competitive bidding is hereby suspended.

 

Section 4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
