TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC., FOR PROFESSIONAL DESIGN SERVICES TO ENGINEER THE GRADING OF ADJACENT PROPERTY, NORTHEAST CORNER OF TAYLOR AND MORRISON ROADS; IMPROVEMENT NO. 769; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, it has been determined by the City Engineer that work on Improvement No. 769, northeast corner of Morrison and Taylor Roads, will negatively impact the parcel of land on the southeast corner of the intersection owned by Andre Buckles; and

 

WHEREAS, to alleviate this problem the City, through the City Engineer, has agreed to extend the grading onto the adjacent Buckles property; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this at the earliest time possible all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with Evans, Mechwart, Hambleton & Tilton, Inc., 170 Mill Street, Gahanna, Ohio 43230, for professional design services to engineer the grading of the adjacent  property, Improvement No. 769, corner of Morrison and Taylor Roads, in accordance with the proposal, attached as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of Seventy Five Hundred Dollars ($7,500) was set aside in the 2002 Appropriations, Account No. 101.145.5445, Engineer Assistance, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and will be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
