TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC., FOR INSPECTION SERVICES FOR THE SOUTH HAMILTON ROAD/TECH CENTER DRIVE PROJECT, IMPROVEMENT NO. 770; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $55,000; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, bids were opened for the South Hamilton Road/Tech Center Drive, Improvement No. 770, on June 1, 2001, pursuant to Council authorization, and Council is proceeding with the awarding of the contract; and

 

WHEREAS, inspection services are needed in conjunction with the awarding of the contract; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this project due to construction time remaining this year, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO: 

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC., 170 Mill Street, Gahanna, Ohio 43230, for inspection services for the construction of the South Hamilton Road/Tech Center Drive, Improvement No. 770, in accordance with City specifications.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of FIFTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($55,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund to Account No. 101.145.5541, Capital Projects, Streets; to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That ORD-0001-2001, passed January 2, 2001 is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 4.  That for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
