TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A BARGAINING UNIT AGREEMENT FOR THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE, OHIO LABOR COUNCIL, INC (FOP-OLC) FOR THE PERIOD OF JANUARY 1, 2019 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2021 FOR THE POLICE RADIO DISPATCHERS; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, the Police Radio Dispatchers were previously under the Ohio Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association (OBPA); and

 

WHEREAS, members of the OBPA held an election and voted to organize under FOP-OLC; and

 

WHEREAS, the election results were certified by the State Employment Relations Board (SERB) on March 10, 2016, and negotiations began shortly thereafter; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Human Resources has recommended we proceed to authorize the Mayor to enter into this contract with the Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Labor Council, Inc. 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a Bargaining Unit Agreement for the FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE, OHIO LABOR COUNCIL, Inc. (FOP-OLC); for the period of January 1, 2019, through December 31, 2021, said Agreement attached to hereto as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this Ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
