TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH DIRECT INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT SYSTEMS, INC., FOR SERVICES PROVIDED FOR THE JULY 4TH FREEDOM FESTIVAL; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the Parks & Recreation Department wishes to add more events for the entertainment of children to the July 4th Festival; and

 

WHEREAS, two bids have been obtained from companies with this service and the Director of Parks & Recreation is recommending the lowest most responsible and responsive bidder; and

 

WHEREAS, to secure the quoted prices and reserve the necessary play stations for the children, it is imperative to move forward with this legislation all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO: 

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into agreement with Direct Instructional Support Systems, Inc., doing business as, The Adventure Education Center, P. O. Box 691, Worthington, Ohio 43085, for play stations for entertainment of children for the 4th of July Festival, (such stations spelled out more clearly in Exhibit A as attached) in accordance with City specifications.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of FIVE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS ($5,875) was set aside in the 2002 Appropriations, to Account No. 101.432.5415, Recreation - July 4th,  .  to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect  immediately upon passage by Council and after signature approval by the Mayor.
