TITLE
AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL CHAPTER 1315 ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR FROM PART THIRTEEN - BUILDING CODE OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA; WAIVING SECOND READING AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
BODY
WHEREAS, the Department of Planning proposes the repeal of Chapter 1315 Electrical Inspector from Part Thirteen - Building Code upon a review prompted by changes in the City’s third-party electrical inspection firm; and
WHEREAS, the review revealed the electrical inspector is the only position of its type identified within the entirety of Part Thirteen; and
WHEREAS, in 2007, Part Thirteen was revised to eliminate listing individual inspectors and fees, except for the electrical inspector; and
WHEREAS, the Department recommends that the fee structure within this chapter is uncommon in the industry and poses a challenge for securing a new electrical inspector; and
WHEREAS, the repeal of this chapter will align the position with others contracted by the City and ensure that construction inspections continue without delay; and
WHEREAS, the Administration requests waiver of second reading and declaring an emergency immediately necessary for the preservation of public peace, property, health, safety, and welfare in the City; to wit: preventing possible interruption or inability to conduct electrical inspections due to the change in third-party contracting.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That City Code Chapter 1315 Electrical Inspector is hereby repealed in its entirety as set forth in EXHIBIT A, attached hereto and made a part herein.
Section 2. That the second reading is hereby waived.
Section 3. That for the reasons set forth in the preamble above, this Ordinance is declared an emergency measure which shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on the date of signature of approval by the Mayor.
