TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH DIRT DAWG EXCAVATING FOR TRIANGLE EAST SANITARY SEWER EXTENSION, PHASE I; IMPROVEMENT NO. SA 871; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $46,060; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, one of the last unsewered areas in the City of Gahanna is the East Johnstown Road area in the triangle, and it is necessary that sanitary sewers be installed in that area; and
WHEREAS, bids were opened on February 15, 2013, and the Director of Public Service has recommended we proceed with the lowest most responsive and responsible bidder, Dirt Dawg Excavating; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative that this ordinance pass at the earliest possible date so that construction on the sewer can begin in early April, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor is authorized to enter into Contract with DIRT DAWG EXCAVATING, P.O. Box 1153, Ashland, Ohio 44805, for Triangle East Sanitary Sewer Extension, Phase I, Improvement No. SA 871; bid tabs attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of SEVENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($75,000) was encumbered from the 2012 Appropriation in Account No. 662.361.5596, Sanitary Sewer Capital Projects/Improvements, to cover the herein cost.
Section 3. That funding in the amount of FORTY SIX THOUSAND SIXTY DOLLARS ($46,060) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the Sewer System Capital Improvement Fund, to Account No. 662.361.5596, Sanitary Sewer Capital Projects/Improvements, to further cover the herein cost.
