TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH STRAWSER PAVING COMPANY, FOR THE 1998 MORRISON/WATERBURY INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $131,546 THEREFOR; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, bids were received July 24, 1998, and the Director of Public Service has recommended the lowest responsive and responsible contractor to this Council; and
WHEREAS, in order to accomplish this project during the construction season, it is necessary to proceed at the earliest possible date, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor to enter into contract with STRAWSER PAVING COMPANY, 1595 Frank Road, P. O. Box 23053, Columbus Ohio 43223 for the 1998 Morrison/Waterbury Intersection, Improvement No. 703, for the amount of One Hundred Seventy-seven Thousand Seven Hundred Seventy-one Dollars ($177,771) in accordance with bid specifications and City specifications.
Section 2. That the amount of ONE HUNDRED THIRTY-ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED FORTY-SIX DOLLARS ($131,546) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance in The General Fund to Account No. 101.145.5541, Capital Projects, Streets, and to Transfer the amount of FORTY-SIX THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS ($46,225) from Account No. 101.145.5533,Capital Projects, Engineering, to Account No. 101.145.5541, Capital Projects, Streets, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That Ordinance No. 980001, passed January 2, 1998, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 4. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation, and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
