TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH COLUMBUS ASPHALT PAVING, INC. FOR MORRISON ROAD, PHASE I, WIDENING IMPROVEMENT, IMP. NO. 769; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $211,750 THEREFOR; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, bids were accepted for the Morrison Road, Phase I, widening improvement; and

 

WHEREAS, the lowest and best bidder has been selected by the Director of Public Service with concurrence of the City Engineer; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this project due to the construction time remaining this year, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor is authorized to enter into contract with Columbus Asphalt Paving, Inc., 1196 Technology Drive, Gahanna, Ohio, for construction of the Morrison Road, Phase I Widening Improvement, Imp. No. 769, in accordance with bid and city specifications; bid tab attached as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of SEVEN HUNDRED EIGHTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($785,000) was set aside in the 2002 Appropriations to Account No. 325.122.5548, Capital Improvement, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That ONE HUNDRED EIGHTEEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($118,550) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unappropriated, unencumbered balance in the W.S.C.I. Fund to account No. 652.351.5596, Misc. Water Improvements.

 

Section 4.  That TWENTY FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS ($24,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unappropriated, unencumbered balance in the General Fund to Account No. 101.145.5541, Streets.

 

Section 5.  That SIXTY NINE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($69,200) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unappropriated, unencumbered balance in the General Fund to Account No. 101.145.5553, Telecommunications.

 

Section 6.  That ORD-0001-2002 is hereby amended to reflect these supplemental appropriations.

 

Section 7.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
