TO HONOR AND COMMEND ISOBEL L. SHERWOOD FOR 30 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF GAHANNA.

WHEREAS, ISOBEL began her employment with the City of Gahanna August 1, 1983, as receptionist and Planning Commission Clerk and then transitioned to add Clerk for the Parks & Recreation Board and Landscape Board; and
WHEREAS, ISOBEL moved to the Council Office in 1985 with the title of Deputy Clerk of Council learning to craft legislation for City Council and work with Council Committees and continuing as Planning Commission Clerk; and
WHEREAS, ISOBEL continued in this position learning all of the Gahanna City Code (yes all of it) and gaining knowledge of where every street, (yes every street) in Gahanna was and that was such a great plus working with Planning Commission; and
WHEREAS, in 2000 ISOBEL was appointed as Clerk of Council where she has served since, and has implemented guidelines and deadlines for legislation and worked closely with all Department Heads; and
WHEREAS, ISOBEL's knowledge of the everyday running of the Council office and keeping it running smoothly has been monumental and the City of Gahanna would not run the way it does today without her input and fortuitousness;
WHEREAS, ISOBEL also served the Ohio Municipal Clerk's Association in many capacities, serving on the Board of Directors from 2006 to 2008, was Clerk of the Year in 2006, and has chaired the OMCA Policies & Procedures Committee for at least 7 years; and
WHEREAS, ISOBEL obtained her Certified Municipal Clerk designation through Kent State University and the Ohio Municipal Clerk's Association in 1994, and MASTER MUNICIPAL CLERK designation in 2003, to become one of the first municipal clerks in Ohio to be awarded the Master Municipal Clerk designation; and
WHEREAS, ISOBEL is respected by colleagues here at the City, the Ohio Municipal Clerks Association, and others she has worked with in many different walks of life including many attorneys and developers; and
WHEREAS, ISOBEL has set the ground work for the continued excellent proceedings of the Council office, which will be invaluable to any future clerks, and our new clerk;
WHEREAS, ISOBEL has served under 21 different Council members, two City Attorneys, at least so many Planning Commission members that they can't be counted, and the list goes on and on; and
WHEREAS, ISOBEL in her capacity as Clerk of Council worked with the Charter Review Commission and was a member of the Records Commission; and
WHEREAS, ISOBEL's knowledge of the City is unsurpassed, and probably always will be, and as she retires we wish her a happy and peaceful retirement and the most enjoyable life possible and thank her for all she has given to the City of Gahanna;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council along with the Administration do hereby honor and commend ISOBEL L. SHERWOOD for a job well done as Deputy Clerk of Council and Clerk of Council with 30 total years of service and for her genuine love of the City of Gahanna.
Section 2. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest date allowed by law.
