TITLE
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING VETERANS DAY 2025 AND HONORING THE SERVICE AND SACRIFICE OF THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE SERVED IN THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES
BODY
WHEREAS, November 11, 2025, marks Veterans Day, a day when our nation pauses to honor the brave men and women who have worn the uniform of the United States military and who have defended our country with courage, duty, and honor; and
WHEREAS, Veterans Day traces its origins to the armistice that ended World War I on November 11, 1918, a solemn moment that symbolized hope, peace, and the end of global conflict; and
WHEREAS, every member of the United States Armed Forces takes a sacred oath, pledging to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; to bear true faith and allegiance to the same”, an enduring promise that binds generations of service members to the protection of the freedoms and democratic ideals upon which our nation was founded; and
WHEREAS, this oath affirms that the defense of our nation is not only a call to arms, but a call to conscience, to preserve the Constitution as the supreme law that safeguards liberty, justice, and equality for all; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna recognizes that the Constitution belongs to every American citizen, and that its defense is a shared civic responsibility, requiring our continued vigilance, participation, and respect for the rule of law to ensure that government remains of, by, and for the People; and
WHEREAS, our veterans have demonstrated, through service and sacrifice, that defending the Constitution is more than a duty, it is an act of faith in the American promise and a testament to the enduring strength of our democracy; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna is proud to be home to many veterans, active-duty service members, and military families who enrich our neighborhoods, schools, and civic life through their continued leadership and example; and
WHEREAS, the Gahanna City Council wishes to express the gratitude of our entire community to all who have served, to those who continue to serve, and to the families who have supported them every step of the way.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, FRANKLIN COUNTY, STATE OF OHIO, THAT:
Section 1. The City of Gahanna proudly recognizes Veterans Day, November 11, 2025, and extends its deepest appreciation to all veterans and active duty service members for their enduring contributions to the safety, security, and freedom of our nation, and for their solemn defense of the United States Constitution.
Section 2. The City of Gahanna further reminds all citizens that the Constitution remains the foundation of our liberty and that its preservation depends upon our collective commitment to civic engagement, respect for democratic institutions, and the values for which generations of veterans have served.
Section 3. The Clerk of Council is directed to forward copies of this resolution to local veterans’ organizations and to include it in the official record of the City of Gahanna as a lasting expression of gratitude.
Section 4. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect after passage by Council and on the date of signature of approval by the Mayor.
