TITLE
A RESOLUTION COMMEMORATING THE OPENING OF THE GAHANNA CIVIC CENTER AT 825 TECH CENTER DRIVE AND RECOGNIZING A NEW CHAPTER IN THE HISTORY OF PUBLIC SERVICE IN GAHANNA
BODY
WHEREAS, since the founding of Gahanna in 1849, generations of residents have shaped a community defined by service, connection, enterprise, and civic pride; and following the Village’s incorporation in 1881, the places in which its citizens gathered, elected officials deliberated, and public servants carried out the work of local government have continued to evolve alongside the community they serve; and
WHEREAS, as Gahanna grew, so too did the places and institutions devoted to serving its residents, each municipal home reflecting the needs, aspirations, and possibilities of its time; and
WHEREAS, in 2026, the City of Gahanna proudly opens the Gahanna Civic Center at 825 Tech Center Drive, bringing together City Hall, the Gahanna Division of Police, and the Gahanna Senior Center in a shared municipal complex designed to strengthen public service, accessibility, safety, collaboration, and community connection; and
WHEREAS, the Civic Center gives physical form to the vision of Our Gahanna, to cultivate a community where people, neighborhoods, and opportunities connect and thrive, and to the City’s commitment to serve its community with pride and purpose; and
WHEREAS, more than four decades ago, the City described the three stars of Gahanna’s official flag as representing our past, present, and emerging future, and as symbols, above all, of “the indomitable spirit of Gahanna’s citizens to strive for excellence and a quality of life equally available to all”; and
WHEREAS, today, those three stars offer a fitting reflection upon this historic moment: our past, represented by the generations and civic places that brought us here; our present, represented by a community investing in exceptional public service; and our emerging future, represented by a Civic Center created to serve generations still to come; and
WHEREAS, the opening of the Gahanna Civic Center is not simply the dedication of a building, but the continuation of a civic story begun nearly a century and a half ago, a story of service, participation, stewardship, connection, and an enduring belief that Gahanna can always strive to be better.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO, THAT:
Section 1. The City of Gahanna does hereby commemorate the opening of the
GAHANNA CIVIC CENTER
at 825 Tech Center Drive, and dedicates this new civic home to the people of Gahanna: those who came before us, those we serve today, and those who will inherit this community tomorrow.
Section 2. May all who enter its doors find a government committed to service and excellence, a community where they are welcomed and valued, and a City forever guided by the indomitable spirit of Gahanna.
Section 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
