TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH NICHOLAS SAVKO AND SONS, INC., FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF KNIGHTS AVENUE, IMPROVEMEMT NO. 720; TO PROVIDE FUNDING THEREFOR; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, bids were received on March 19, 1999, and lowest, responsive and responsible bidder has been recommended to this Council by the Director of Public Service and the City Engineer; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this reconstruction at the earliest possible date for the orderly flow of vehicular traffic, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor is authorized to enter into Contract with NICHOLAS SAVKO AND SONS, INC., 4636 Shuster Road, Columbus Ohio 43214 for reconstruction of Knights Avenue, Improvement No. 720, for the amount of $248,977.
Section 2. That $126,500 was set aside in the 1999 Appropriations to Account No. 101.145.5541, Capital Projects, Streets, for this improvement.
Section 3. That additional funding is hereby set aside as follows: That SEVENTY-EIGHT THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED THIRTY-ONE DOLLARS ($78,831) is hereby appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance in the Water Fund to ACCOUNT NO. 651.350.5596, WATER LINE IMPROVEMENTS, and the amount of FORTY-THREE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED FORTY-SIX DOLLARS is hereby appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance in the General Fund to ACCOUNT NO. 101.145.5541, CAPITAL PROJECTS, STREETS, to cover the herein costs.
Section 4. That Ordinance No. 990001, passed January 2, 1999, is hereby amended to reflect these supplemental appropriations.
Section 5. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
