TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH TRANSYSTEMS CORPORATION FOR CONSULTING AND PRELIMINARY WORK FOR THE TECH CENTER DRIVE EXTENSION, IMPROVEMENT NO. 772 , AND THE BRIDGE OVER I-270 PROJECT, IMPROVEMENT NO. 762; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $249,204; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, proposal was received from TranSystems Corp. for consulting and preliminary work for the Tech Center Drive extension and Bridge over I-270; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has recommended that we proceed with TranSystems; and
WHEREAS, the project will entail preliminary engineering work for up to Stage 1 of the Ohio Department of Transportation's Project Development Process, to include construction plans and to coordinate and produce final environmental documentation; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this project all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with TRANSYSTEMS CORPORATION, 5747 Perimeter Drive, Suite 240, Dublin, Ohio 43017, for preliminary engineering work for the Tech Center Drive Extension and the Bridge over I-270; in accordance with City specifications.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of TWO HUNDRED FORTY NINE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED FOUR DOLLARS ($249,204) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund to Account no. 101.145.5533, Capital Projects, Engineering, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That ORD-0001-2006, passed January 2, 2006, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 4. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
