RESOLUTION REGARDING A CHANGE IN CORPORATE BOUNDARIES FOR MORSE ROAD

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Administration and the Council of the City of Gahanna to promote orderly development and provide corporate boundary lines consistent with good maintenance, law enforcement and, and other regulatory functions; and

 

WHEREAS, the Franklin County Engineer has made a recommendation to adjust the corporate boundaries in a manner which would enhance the functions of the City of Gahanna and the City of Columbus; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Engineer has reviewed these plans and made presentations to Council and the Administration supports the recommendations of the County Engineer;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Administration and Council of the City of Gahanna support the efforts of the County Engineer to adjust the corporate boundaries along Morse Road as follows:

 

a)  From the western boundary of the City of Gahanna through the Hamilton Road intersection, the right of way of Morse Road shall be incorporated in the City of Columbus.

 

b)  From the eastern side of the Hamilton Road intersection through the eastern side of the U S Route 62 intersection, the right of way of Morse Road shall be incorporated in the City of Gahanna.

 

c)  From the eastern side of the U S Route 62 intersection to the western edge of the Reynoldsburg New Albany Road intersection, the right of way of Morse Road shall be incorporated into the City of Gahanna.

 

Section 2.  That the Administration and Council of the City of Gahanna urges negotiation with the City of Columbus for maintenance of sections of Morse Road in a manner consistent with the standards of the City of Gahanna.

 

Section 3.  That the City of Columbus is urged to cooperate with the City of Gahanna for improvements to Morse Road and regulation of developments abutting Morse Road.

 

Section 4.  That this resolution shall take effect and be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
