WHEREAS, a Petition for the annexation of  4.1+/- acres from Mifflin and Jefferson Townships to the City of Gahanna was filed by City of Gahanna, et al.; and

WHEREAS, a hearing on said new Petition is scheduled before the Board of County Commissioners of Franklin County on August 4, 1999; and

WHEREAS, Section 709.031 of the Ohio Revised Code requires that before said hearing the Municipal Legislative Authority shall adopt a statement indicating what services, if any, the municipal corporation will provide to the territory proposed for annexation upon annexation, and it is, therefore, necessary to effect this legislation prior to the hearing date for the orderly progression of the annexation procedure, and for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

Section 1.  That the City of Gahanna will provide the following municipal services for 4.1+/- acres in Mifflin and Jefferson Townships upon the acceptance of the annexation of the said area to the City of Gahanna:

POLICE:

1.  The tract is located on a main thoroughfare.

2.  The City of Gahanna provides 24-hour police protection, criminal investigation, and traffic control through the efforts of various segments of the Division of Police.  The Department is comprised of 52 sworn full-time officers, 25 sworn Reserve officers, and 8 civilians.

3.  Optimally the Department operates 8 cruisers on patrol throughout the City per shirt; a shift never has less than 5 cruisers on patrol.

5.  The City of Gahanna is part of the 9-1-1 Emergency System that allows quick response to emergency situations; the Department anticipates no problems in providing police protection to this area of annexation.

2.  Sanitary sewer service will be available from the Northeast Sanitary Sub trunk, which is located on Hamilton Road.  Sanitary Sewer Service is also available to adjoining properties from sewers located between Silver Lane and Beecher Road. It is understood that the extension of the sewer is the responsibility of the owner/developer.
