TITLE
A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE CITY’S APPLICATION FOR STATE CAPITAL GRANT FUNDING FOR THE CREEKSIDE PLAZA AND FLOOD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
BODY
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna owns and is responsible for the management and maintenance of the park plaza and underground parking garage facility located on Mill Street within the Creekside District; and
WHEREAS, the Creekside area serves as a vital civic, cultural, and economic center for the community, contributing significantly to the quality of life and economic vitality of the City of Gahanna; and
WHEREAS, flooding events associated with the Big Walnut Creek have highlighted the need for improvements to protect City-owned infrastructure and private investments within the Creekside District; and
WHEREAS, flood mitigation and infrastructure improvements are necessary to ensure the continued safe operation of the Creekside Plaza, parking garage, and surrounding facilities; and
WHEREAS, the City seeks to leverage the opportunity to enhance the upper and lower plazas and surrounding streetscape to improve public access, safety, and the overall visitor experience in Creekside; and
WHEREAS, the City is currently engaging the community through public meetings to review and refine preliminary design concepts for the Creekside Plaza and Flood Improvement Project; and
WHEREAS, the State of Ohio is currently soliciting project applications for consideration as part of the 2026-2027 State Capital Budget process; and
WHEREAS, the City Administration has requested that City Council adopt a Resolution of Support to accompany the City’s funding applications submitted to the Ohio General Assembly.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Gahanna City Council hereby expresses its full support for the City of Gahanna’s application for the 2026-2027 state capital grant funding for the Creekside Plaza and Flood Improvement Project, recognizing its importance in enhancing public safety, protecting City infrastructure, and strengthening the long-term economic and recreational vitality of the Creekside District.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall be transmitted to the City’s State Representatives and Senators as evidence of the City of Gahanna’s support and commitment to the Creekside Plaza and Flood Improvement Project.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in full force immediately upon its passage.
