TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO EXTENDED CONTRACT WITH W.E. STILSON CONSULTING GROUP FOR ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR HAMILTON/GRANVILLE INTERSECTION, IMPROVEMENT NO. 883; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $9,800; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City contracted with W.E. Stilson Consulting Group for engineering services for the Hamilton/Granville intersection project by ORD-0132-2006; and
WHEREAS, preliminiary engineering has identified that the next Hamilton Road intersection north of Granville Street is causing congestion in the Granville Street intersection; and
WHEREAS, the consultant has submitted a proposal to evaluate the section containing the next two signals to the north to try to find a solution to the situation; and
WHEREAS, in order to maintain the flow of work, it is imperative to move forward with these services at the earliest possible date, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into extended contract with W.E. STILSON CONSULTING GROUP, 355 E. Campus View Boulevard, Suite 240, Columbus OH 43235 for additional engineering services related to Hamilton/Granville Intersection, Inp. #883, in accordance with City specifications; said proposal attached hereto as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of NINE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS ($9,800) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund, to Account No. 101.145.5533, Capital Projects, Engineering, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That ORD-0001-2006, passed January 2, 2006, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 4. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
