TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH URS CORPORATION FOR FINAL DESIGN ENGINEERING OF MODIFICATIONS TO THE GIANT EAGLE DETENTION BASIN FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE MCKENNA CREEK WATHERSHED; AND TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $24,000.

WHEREAS, the Phase 2 Study of McKenna Creek recommended that additional detention basin storage in the vicinity of Hamilton and Morse Roads would be beneficial in reducing erosion and peak discharges in McKenna Creek; and
WHEREAS, the City authorized URS to perform an initial stormwater study of the area by ORD-0152-2007, an expanded study by ORD-0224-2008 and ORD-0248-2009; and
WHEREAS, preliminary engineering recommends utilizing the existing Giant Eagle detention basin and surrounding area for increased efficiency by adding additional storm water storage; and
WHEREAS, now the City wishes to continue with final engineering, development of the construction documents of the basin and securing the necessary approvals from appropriate agencies; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Service has recommended we proceed with URS Corporation for this work;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Contract with URS CORPORATION, 277 West Nationwide Blvd., Columbus, Ohio 43215, for final design engineering of modifications to the Giant Eagle detention basin for improvements to the McKenna Creek watershed; proposal attached as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($50,000) was set aside in the 2010 appropriations to Account Number 631.350.5596, Storm Water, Capital Projects/Improvements to cover a portion of the herein costs.
Section 3. That funding in the amount of TWENTY FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS ($24,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the Stormwater Fund to Account No. 631.350.5596, Stormwater Capital Projects/Improvements to cover the balance of the herein costs.
Section 4. That ORD-0001-2010, passed January 2, 2010, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 5. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor
