TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH STATEWIDE EMERGENCY PRODUCTS FOR EQUIPPING AND UPFITTING THREE DODGE CHARGER POLICE VEHICLES; TO WAIVE THE BID PROCESS; AND TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $57,500.

WHEREAS, the City is in the process of purchasing three additional police cruisers which will need equipping and upfitting of necessary equipment, graphics and accessories; and

 

WHEREAS, in the past these services were performed by the City Service Department using overtime; and

 

WHEREAS, Statewide Emergency Products is the only vendor that will allow the City to select individual products and install them rather than selecting pre-assembled packages of emergency products; and

 

WHEREAS, the appropriated funding would be distributed as follows; $24,900 would go to Statewide Emergency for the equipping of the cars with material purchased from them; and

 

WHEREAS, $32,600 would be for lightbars, radios, flare boxes, low profile antennas, fire extinguishers, roll light stop sticks and Stalker Radar, which is being purchased from many different vendors; and

 

WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended we proceed with Statewide Emergency Products; 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Agreement with STATEWIDE EMERGENCY PRODUCTS, 1108 West Main Street, Van Wert, Ohio 45891, for equipping and upfitting of three police cruisers with necessary equipment, graphics and accessories.

 

Section 2.  That the bid process is hereby waived.

 

Section 3.  That funding in the amount of FIFTY SEVEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($57,500) is hereby appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund to Account No. 101.211.5512, Police Major Capital, to cover the herein costs. 

 

Section 4.  That ORD-0001-2008, passed January 2, 2008, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 5.  That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
