TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH BUCKEYE CEMENT CONTRACTORS FOR ARMOR HILL STORM SEWER PROJECT, IMPROVEMENT NO. 992; AND FOR REPLACEMENT OF EXISTING DRIVEWAY WITH CONCRETE; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $24,400; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the Armor Hill Storm Sewer Project, Improvement No. 992 is planned to alleviate a long standing drainage problem in the area at the North end of Armor Hill Drive; and
WHEREAS, this construction will cause enough damage to the property owner's driveway that it will need to be replaced and has been included in the project; and
WHEREAS, three letterhead quotes were received for the project, including the driveway replacement and the lowest quote has been recommended by the City Engineer with an 8% contingency; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable to proceed with this contract at the earliest possible date due to the pending construction season, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with Buckeye Cement Contractors, 4969 Big Run South Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123, for Armor Hill storm sewer project, Improvement No. 992, and for replacement of existing driveway with concrete.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of TWENTY-FOUR THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS ($24,400) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance in the Storm Sewer Fund to Account No. 631.350.5596, Capital Projects/Improvements to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That ORD-0001-2008, passed January 2, 2008, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 4. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
