A JOINT RESOLUTION AND PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE PINNELL CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA AND ITS CONTINUED PHILANTHROPIC IMPACT ON THE GAHANNA COMMUNITY

WHEREAS, the Pinnell Christmas Extravaganza began nearly fifty years ago as a small holiday performance for the senior citizens of Stygler Village in Gahanna; and
WHEREAS, over five decades, this heartfelt tradition has grown into a beloved community event featuring more than 200 performers, including Pinnell Dancers, singers, and cast members from all walks of life; and
WHEREAS, the Extravaganza has remained true to its mission of spreading joy and fostering community spirit, offering family-centered holiday entertainment that brings together residents of all ages each December; and
WHEREAS, the show has also served as an enduring force for good, collecting hundreds of canned goods each year as the admission “charge,” all of which are donated to support local families in need; and
WHEREAS, this philanthropic tradition continues today through annual donations benefiting Gahanna Residents in Need (GRIN), directly supporting food security and essential services for Gahanna families; and
WHEREAS, the Extravaganza also celebrates the exceptional talents of students from Pinnell Dance Centre-one of the nation’s leading dance studios offering tap, jazz, lyrical, ballet, and hip hop-whose dancers have competed nationally and performed across the country, further elevating Gahanna’s reputation for arts excellence; and
WHEREAS, the 2025 season marks the 50th Anniversary of the Pinnell Christmas Extravaganza, a milestone that reflects not only artistic excellence but also a half-century of generosity, community partnership, and unwavering commitment to serving others.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL AND PROCLAIMED BY THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That we proudly recognize the 50th Anniversary of the Pinnell Christmas Extravaganza and extend our deepest gratitude for its ongoing contributions to our community, its support of GRIN, and its role in enriching the cultural and philanthropic fabric of Gahanna.
Section 2. Be it further resolved: that the City of Gahanna celebrates the dancers, families, volunteers, and leaders whose dedication has sustained this treasured tradition for five decades, and we look forward to its continued success for generations to come.
Section 3. That this Joint Resolution and Proclamation shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
