TO ACCEPT GRANT MONIES OF $17,206 FROM THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES FOR A BOATING SAFETY EDUCATION GRANT; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE SAID GRANT MONEY; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, RES-0018-2009 authorized the City to apply for a grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for Boating Safety Education and said grant has been awarded to the City; and

 

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Parks and Recreation Department to supplementally appropriate these funds in order to move forward with the Boating Assistance Safety Education grant; and

 

WHEREAS, it is necessary to enter into this agreement immediately in order to meet the ODNR set deadlines, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That this Council and Administration, on behalf of the citizens of Gahanna do hereby accept a grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for the purpose of Boating Safety Education and authorize the Mayor to enter into any necessary agreement.

 

Section 2: That funding in the amount of FIFTEEN THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED THIRTY DOLLARS ($15,430) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance in the General Fund to Account No. 101.432.5512, Recreation, Capital Equipment.

 

Section 3: That funding in the amount of ONE THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED SEVENTY SIX DOLLARS ($1,776) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance in the General Fund to Account No. 101.432.5274, Recreation, Seminars and Meetings

 

Section 4.  That ORD-0001-2010, passed January 2, 2010 is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 5. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
