TITLE
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND HONORING KATE ACKLIN, 2025 FRANKLIN COUNTY FAIR QUEEN
BODY
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna proudly celebrates the many youth and families in our community who actively participate in the Franklin County Fair and related programs, demonstrating, leadership, service, and a strong commitment to agricultural, educational, and civic excellence; and
WHEREAS, the Franklin County Fair, operated by the Franklin County Agricultural Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting agriculture, horticulture, domestic science and arts, and youth development, partners with The Ohio State University Extension’s 4-H Youth Development Program to provide educational, innovative, and engaging opportunities for youth through a nationally recognized program founded in Ohio in 1902; and
WHEREAS, Miss Kate Acklin has been a 10-year youth exhibitor and 4-H member at the Franklin County Fair, as well as a 4-year member of Ohio and Franklin County Farm Bureau. She has been a 4-H Camp Counselor at the County and State level, a member of both the Franklin County Jr. Fair and Ohio State Fair Jr. Fair Boards, attended leadership conferences at the State and Federal levels including the Ohio 4-H Conference, Ohio Fair Managers Association, Ohio Leadership Camp, Washington Citizenship Program. She is a member of the State Teen Leaders Council, the Franklin County TLC and Franklin County Fashion Board.
WHEREAS, In addition to 4-H, Kate has an extensive background of service in the Gahanna and Central Ohio community, including as a volunteer for the Miracle League, March of Dimes, High Point Elementary, as well as food drives for St. Stephens’ House, WARM and GRIN. Kate was also very active as a Run the Race volunteer mentoring inner-city at-risk youth. As a Gahanna student, she was an East Bud and has stayed in contact with many of the kids she mentored. She was also active in the DeSales Autism Awareness Club and dedicated her time as a DeSales cheerleader and volleyball and tennis player; and
WHEREAS, Miss Kate Acklin was recently named the 2025 Franklin County Fair Queen. As Queen, Kate is a spokesperson for the Fair along with her Court members, who represent 4-H, Farm Bureau, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and FFA who participate in the Junior Fair programs here in Franklin County; and
WHEREAS, As Queen, Kate’s primary obligations are to promote the Franklin County Fair and their youth organizations and to educate the general public about the opportunities available for all ages through participation in a fun and competitive environment.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the City Council of Gahanna hereby recognizes and honors Kate Acklin on being named the 2025 Franklin County Fair Queen.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
