A RESOLUTION TO HONOR AND COMMEND ANTHONY A. COLLINS FOR FIFTEEN YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY OF GAHANNA

WHEREAS, over the last fifteen years, Anthony A. Collins "Tony" has served as Supervisor, Deputy Director of Parks & Recreation and Director of Parks & Recreation for the City of Gahanna; and
 
WHEREAS, under Tony Collins's leadership of the Gahanna Dept. of Parks and Recreation, the City of Gahanna has been recognized by Money Magazine as a "Top 100 City," and by Ohio Magazine as a "Best Hometown"; and
 
WHEREAS, under Tony Collins's leadership, the City of  Gahanna adopted a Parks and Recreation Master Plan, updated in 2015, to guide more than $10 million in parks and recreation growth and improvements since 2005; and
 
WHEREAS, under Tony Collins's leadership, the City of Gahanna has significantly increased and improved park land, trails, athletic fields, and recreation programs; and
 
WHEREAS, Tony Collins has extended his expertise and  leadership beyond Gahanna by serving as a board member, conference chair, and board president of the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association (OPRA); as vice-president of the OPRA Foundation; and as a member of the National Parks and Recreation Association; and
 
WHEREAS, Tony Collins is a leader of the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission's Central Ohio Greenways Board, which drives a regional effort to increase trails in Central Ohio; and
 
WHEREAS, Tony Collins has extended his service to Gahanna beyond parks and recreation by serving on the board of the Gahanna Convention and Visitor's Bureau and on various internal Gahanna committees to improve communications and efficient operations; and
 
WHEREAS, Tony Collins has built on his bachelors and masters degrees with professional training in various aspects of recreation management; and  
 
WHEREAS, Tony Collins's skills and accomplishments have been recognized by the City of Columbus, where he has been selected to be the new Director of Recreation and Parks; and
 
WHEREAS, Tony Collins will be missed personally and professionally by City of Gahanna staff and citizens;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
 
Section 1.  That this Council hereby honors and commends Anthony A. Collins for fifteen years of service in the Gahanna Parks and Recreation, and wishes him well in all future endeavors.
 
Section 2.  That this resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately after passage by this Council.
