WHEREAS, the Bipartisan Economic Stimulus Package promises to create new jobs in Ohio and lays the foundation for long-term economic prosperity in our state; and

 

WHEREAS, the initiative both focuses investment in new opportunities for Ohio's economic future, provides significant funding in partnership with local governments to address Ohio's critical infrastructure needs and will better position our state, regions and communities to attract and create economic growth for decades to come; and

 

WHEREAS, Building Ohio Jobs will invest $400 million in the Public Works Commission and $120 million in Historic Preservation Tax Credit allowing Ohio to quickly infuse resources into communities, meet their critical infrastructure needs, and make Ohio's communities places where people want to live and companies want to do business; and

 

WHEREAS, Building Ohio Jobs will invest $400 million in the Clean Ohio Fund and will help meet the growing demand for brownfield redevelopment and farmland preservation, as well as support trails and green space preservation projects; and

 

WHEREAS, Building Ohio Jobs will invest $300 million in Advanced and Renewable Energy, Bio-based Products and the Biomedical Industry that will create jobs, new products from the crops we grow, encourage innovation, and position Ohio as a national leader in new and emerging industries; and

 

WHEREAS, Building Ohio Jobs will invest $100 million in Ohio's Logistics and Distribution Infrastructure and will help create a seamless multimodal transportation infrastructure across the state, linking rails, roads, waterways and airports that combined with Ohio's strategic location, will spur economic development and further attract and create jobs in our state; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna has received $3 million from the Clean Ohio Fund to assist in the cleanup of the Bedford 1 Landfill and $60,000 from the Conservation Fund for parks;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Council and Administration of the City of Gahanna endorses and supports the passage of the Bipartisan Economic Stimulus package for its efforts to improve the critical infrastructure needs, employment opportunities, and quality of life for citizens, communities, and regions.

 

Section 2.  That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
