Title

TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC., FOR ENGINEERING FOR THE SOUTHEAST SANITARY SUBTRUNK SEWER, PHASE 2; TO SUPPLEMENTALY APPROPRIATE $57,500 THEREFOR; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

Body

WHEREAS, now that the type of development has been determined for the Deffenbaugh, Junkermann, and Blatt properties, is has been determined by the engineers that a new sewer will be required to handle the flow from the proposed development; and

 

WHEREAS, proposal has been received and recommended by the City Engineer and the Administration for Engineering for the detailed engineering plans for the Southeast Sanitary Subtrunk Sewer, Phase 2; and

 

WHEREAS, it is necessary to proceed as rapidly as possible with final engineering plans for the orderly development of the sewer line, and to allow the development to stay on schedule, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Contract with EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC., 170 MILL STREET, GAHANNA, OHIO 43230, in accordance with proposal submitted December 23, 1998, said proposal attached to this ordinance at EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein, and in accordance with City specifications.

 

Section 2.  That the amount of FIFTY-SEVEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($57,500) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance in the S.S.C.I, to Account No. 662.361.5543, Capital Projects, Sanitary Sewer, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That Ordinance No. 980001, passed January 2, 1999, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation. 

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation, and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
