TITLE

AN ORDINANCE MAKING SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS AND WAIVING SECOND READING - Capital Improvement Fund for the Friendship Park Playground Replacement Project

BODY

 

WHEREAS, the Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation has pledged Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000) to support the Friendship Park Playground Replacement Project (PK-25-201); and

 

WHEREAS, the Administration seeks authority to appropriate these funds in advance of receipt in order to facilitate timely completion of the project and allow related legislation (RES-0023-2026) to proceed concurrently; and

 

WHEREAS, upon receipt of the pledged funds, the revenue will be returned to the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the Capital Improvement Fund; and

 

WHEREAS, the additional funding will be incorporated into the project budget to enhance the overall play value of the playground and improve its functionality as an inclusive play environment; and

 

WHEREAS, Council finds it necessary to provide supplemental appropriations to support the Friendship Park Playground Replacement Project.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That funding in the amount of Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000) is hereby appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the Capital Improvement Fund (3250) as follows:

325.06.550.5510 - Capital Equipment - Project PK-25-201 Friendship Park Playground: $25,000

 

Section 2. That upon receipt of the pledged donation from the Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation, such funds shall be returned to the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the Capital Improvement Fund.

 

Section 3. That the second reading is hereby waived to allow this Ordinance to proceed concurrently with related legislation authorizing the Friendship Park Playground Replacement Project.

 

Section 4. That pursuant to City Charter Section 4.14, whereas the 30-day referendum period does not apply to ordinances providing for the appropriation of money, this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and upon approval by the Mayor.
