TITLE
AN ORDINANCE TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO AWARD AND ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH DECKER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE 2025 STREET AND SIDEWALK MAINTENANCE PROGRAM (ST-1114)
BODY
WHEREAS, on March 5, 2025, bids were opened and reviewed for the 2025 Street and Sidewalk Maintenance Program; and
WHEREAS, the 2025 Street and Sidewalk Maintenance Program consists of concrete work, pavement milling, asphalt resurfacing, crack sealing, micro-surfacing, preservation treatment, sidewalk installation and repair, and pavement markings; and
WHEREAS, two bids were received, and Decker Construction Company, located at 3040 McKinley Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43204, submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering recommends awarding the Base Bid and two alternates as follows:
Base Bid - $2,027,024.28
Alternate 1 (Additional Striping) - $79,990.78
Alternate 2 (Additional Overlay) - $371,716.91
10% Contingency for unforeseen construction costs - $247,873.20
WHEREAS, the total project cost, including contingency, amounts to $2,726,605.17; and
WHEREAS, sufficient funds have been appropriated for this project as follows: $2,598,615.30 from Account 32506550-5500 - (TR-CM-01 - Asphalt Overlay & Sidewalks), $87,989.87 from Account 32506550-5500 - (TR-CM-04 - Traffic Control Upgrades & Maintenance), and $40,000 from Account 65211000-5500 - (WA-CM-01 - Waterline Replacement); and
WHEREAS, the Administration respectfully requests Council’s authorization to enter into a contract with Decker Construction Company to complete the 2025 Street and Sidewalk Maintenance Program in accordance with the bid specifications and contract documents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. The Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with Decker Construction Company, located at 3040 McKinley Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43204, for the completion of the 2025 Street and Sidewalk Maintenance Program (ST-1114) for a total contract amount not to exceed $2,726,605.17, which includes a 10% contingency for unforeseen construction costs; said contract terms set forth in EXHIBIT A, attached hereto and incorporated herein.
Section 2. This ordinance take effect and be in force immediately upon passage and signature of approval by the Mayor, as the 30-day referendum period does not apply pursuant to City Charter Section 4.14.
