TO HONOR AND COMMEND TOM KNEELAND FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF SERVICE.

WHEREAS, Tom Kneeland, a life-long resident of Gahanna, has a great love for his City and a desire to serve the citizens of Gahanna; and
WHEREAS, Tom Kneeland was first elected to Gahanna City Council in 1991 where he was elected to serve Ward 1; and
WHEREAS, Tom Kneeland has served five terms as a Ward 1 representative and two terms as At Large; and
WHEREAS, Tom Kneeland was selected by his peers to lead City Council as its president and vice president six times and has served as a chair member to all Council committees; and
WHEREAS, Tom Kneeland was one of the founding members of the Gahanna Veterans Memorial Committee, has played an active role as a member in the committee for over 18 years and continues to serve as an active volunteer member; and
WHEREAS, Tom Kneeland received an honorable discharge after completing 6 years of military service as helicopter crew chief in the Ohio Army National Guard; and
WHEREAS, Tom Kneeland retired in 2001 from a 30 year career with SBC (formerly Ohio Bell) as a Transport Technical Manager where he was responsible for complex fiber optic communication systems and equipment vendors for a 13-state region, and then went on to work as a product and marketing manager and business development director with a local company, Applied Innovation; and
WHEREAS, Tom Kneeland has been concurrently serving on City Council and employed by the City of Whitehall as the Technology Director since 2008; and
WHEREAS, Tom Kneeland was elected Mayor of Gahanna in 2015 and will begin his term as Mayor on January 2, 2016; and
WHEREAS, on behalf of the City Council of the City of Gahanna, we want to honor and commend Tom Kneeland on his election to serve the citizens of the City of Gahanna as Mayor and we look forward to working with him as the leader of Administration.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council hereby honors and commends Tom Kneeland for over twenty four years of service as Gahanna City Council Member.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately after passage by this Council.
