TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH MEADE CONSTRUCTION, INC., FOR STANDING SEAM METAL ROOF REPAIRS AT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE SENIOR CENTER; AND TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $357,800.

WHEREAS, due to the severe hail storm of 2006 we sustained damage to our standing seam metal roofs at the Police Station and the Senior Center, and repair is needed; and
WHEREAS, bids were opened February 29, 2008 for repair of the roofs at the Police Station and the Senior Center, and the Director of Public Service has recommended we proceed with the lowest, most responsive, and responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, a ten (10%) percent contingency of $35,000 to cover unexpected items is also included in the total award;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor is authorized to enter into contract with MEADE CONSTRUCTION INC., 25 North Main Street, Fredricktown, Ohio 43109, for standing seam metal roof repairs to the Police Station and Senior Center due to 2006 hail damage; in accordance with City specifications; bid tabs attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of TWO HUNDRED THIRTY SIX THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS ($236,800) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund to Account No. 101.211.5596, Police, Capital Projects/Improvements, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That funding in the amount of ONE HUNDRED TWENTY ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($121,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund to Account No. 101.141.5596, Lands & Buildings Capital Projects/Improvements to further cover the herein costs; and that a 10% contingency is figured in this total.
Section 4. That ORD-0001-2008, passed January 2, 2008, is hereby amended to reflect these supplemental appropriations.
Section 5. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
