TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AMENDED CONTRACT WITH TRANSYSTEMS CORPORATION FOR SCOPE CHANGES FOR TECHCENTER DRIVE WEST, IMP. NO. ST762; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE FUNDS THEREFOR; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, proposal was received from TranSystems Corp. for contract modification for the TechCenter Drive West Extension, Improvement Number ST762; and
WHEREAS, TranSystems Corporation was authorized to do consulting and preliminary work for the TechCenter Drive West extension by ORD-0087-2006; and
WHEREAS, amendment to this contract was previously approved by ORD-0187-2007 to include design work; and
WHEREAS, amendment to this contract was previously approved by ORD-0103-2008 to include a noise study and an air quality analysis; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this additional work required as quickly as possible to keep the project on track and all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into amended contract with TRANSYSTEMS CORPORATION, 5747 Perimeter Drive, Suite 240, Dublin, Ohio 43017, for bridge design for the TechCenter Drive West Extension, Imp. #ST762; in accordance with City specifications and said proposal attached hereto as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of SEVENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($75,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund to Account no. 101.145.5596, Capital Projects, Streets, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That ORD-0001-2008, passed January 2, 2008, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 4. That ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($100,000) is available in Account No. 101.145.5596, Capital Projects, Streets, to cover a portion of the costs.
Section 5. That TWO HUNDRED TWENTY ONE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED FIFTEEN DOLLARS ($221,915) will be appropriated in the 2009 appropriations to cover the balance of the costs.
Section 6. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
