WHEREAS, the current Administrative Assistant to the Director of Public Safety is retiring in June, 2006; and
WHEREAS, the administration has evaluated the position, its duties and responsibilities and how best to utilize for resources for the job; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Administration to create the position of Office Manager for the Division of Police with redefining duties including supervisory duties over the clerical civilian staff; and
WHEREAS, the position of Administrative Assistant to the Director of Public Safety will not be back filled; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the administration to fill the position in a time frame that allows for training by the retiring employee, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA:
Section 1. That there is hereby created the position of Office Manager for the Division of Police with duties to be as outlined in EXHIBIT A attached hereto.
Section 2. That compensation is established for the position of Office Manager at a class allocation of 32 and a salary range of $39,854-$55,353; with any changes in compensation to be approved by an ordinance of Council.
Section 3. The for the balance of the year 2006, Ten Thousand Three Hundred Seventy Nine Dollars ($10,379) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered unappropriated balance in the general fund to the following accounts:

101.212.5121 PERS $ 437
101.212.5132 Workers Compensation $ 102
101.212.5133 Health Insurance $6,289
101.212.5138 Medicare $ 365
Section 4. That ORD-0001-2006, passed January 2, 2006, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 5. That second reading is hereby waived.
Section 6. That for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
