ISSUES - From Director of Emergency Management:
Meteorologics Weather Service
Gen. Williams stated that last year we started looking at bringing more capability and |
flexibility for weather information to Gahanna; looked at Meterologics; basically they |
are the only firm that provides this type of service; we are coming into spring severe |
weather; they have offered us a 30 day trial; we would have it installed in the police |
department; the understanding is if we don't like after the 30 days they will take it out; if |
we do like it then we would enter into a contract; they have recommended a 3 year |
contract because it saves us $400 in connection fees; someone could monitor this |
system 24 hours a day; has the capability for queries as opposed to current system; |
would like to proceed with 30 day trial period; would have to come back and |
recommend; this would require a supplemental. Council had several questions and |
asked Gen. Williams to come back with clarification as to when the contract would |
begin. |
RECOMMENDATION: Carry over to Next Committee |
ISSUES - From the Mayor:
Juvenile Court Diversion Program
Mayor stated that this is just a renewal of a current contract for this service. |
RECOMMENDATION: 1st Reading; No need to come back to Committee; 2nd |
Reading; Consent |
ISSUES - From Director of Parks & Recreation:
Class Acts Columbus, Inc. - July 4th
Mitchell stated that we have a chance to get Phil Dirt and the Doziers for July 4th; this |
is what the contract would be for. |
RECOMMENDATION: 1st Reading; No need to come back to Committee; 2nd |
Reading; Consent |
Direct Instructional Support Systems, Inc. - July 4th
Mitchell stated this contract would be for the inflatable playground for July 4th; it is |
going to be slightly expanded from last year; they were a big hit. |
RECOMMENDATION: 1st Reading; No need to come back to Committee; 2nd |
Reading; Consent |
REPORT - Chief of Police.
No Report.
MONITOR:
3) Morse Rd/US 62 Signage |
Collins stated that the cost on the lights for the skateboard park came in; it was a little |
less then expected; we will be working with the design company and the skateboard |
advisory group to design the park. |
A question was raised on the signage for 62 and Morse; Wetherholt stated he had talked |
to the County; will check and find out what the response was; will report at next |
committee. |
A question was raised regarding cameras being installed in the cruisers; Chief Murphy |
stated they were stilll in the research stage; need one more bid to come through; will |
report when we have more information. |
