TITLE
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND HONORING JONATHAN COOLEY
BODY
WHEREAS, Coach Jonathan Cooley joined the Los Angeles Rams as defensive assistant/quality control coach in 2020 and currently services as Defensive Backs Coach; and
WHEREAS, on February 13, 2022, the Los Angeles Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals by a score of 23-20 to win Super Bowl LVI; and
WHEREAS, Coach Cooley enters his third season with the Los Angeles Rams in 2022, his first season as defensive backs coach; and
WHEREAS, in 2019 Coach Cooley was part of the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship with the Los Angeles Rams; and
WHEREAS, Coach Cooley began his coaching career at Millikin University in Illinois and has held coaching positions at Bluffton, John Carroll, Kentucky, Tennessee at Chattanooga, Kent State, and Akron; and
WHEREAS, Coach Cooley earned his bachelor’s degree from John Carroll University in 2011 and went on to earn an MBA and completed work towards a second master’s degree in sports leadership at Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, while a student and player at John Carroll, Coach Cooley was a four-year letter winner, playing as a defensive back and finished in the top 10 in his career in pass breakups for the Blue Streaks; and
WHEREAS, Coach Cooley is a Gahanna native and a 2007 graduate of Gahanna Lincoln High School where he played football and was a wide receiver and defensive back, reaching the Division I regional semifinals during his final two seasons; and
WHEREAS, Coach Cooley continues to give back to his hometown and the GLHS football program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council does hereby recognize and honor Coach Jonathan Cooley for his contributions to athletics and the sport of football.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
