AN ORDINANCE TO ADOPT AMENDMENTS TO GAHANNA CODE SECTION 521.06 - CONSTRUCTION, REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF SIDEWALKS, INTEGRAL APPROACHES/APRONS AND RELATED AREAS

WHEREAS, Gahanna Code Section 521.06 was adopted by Council in 2021, establishing the City’s first-ever Sidewalk Maintenance Program; and

 

WHEREAS, this Section includes the assessment process, whereby the City will assess the costs of maintaining the sidewalk to the real property; and

 

WHEREAS, based upon public feedback from Town Hall meetings, an option for property owners to pay for the full costs for the improvements in lieu of having said costs assessed through the county auditor is desired; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Service & Engineering respectfully requests amending assessment procedures in Gahanna Code Section 521.06 for Construction, Repair and Replacement of Sidewalks, Integral Approaches/Aprons and Related Areas to allow property owners to pay in full the costs of improvements made through the Sidewalk Maintenance Program in lieu of having said costs assessed against their real property.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That Gahanna Code Section 521.06 for Construction, Repair and Replacement of Sidewalks, Integral Approaches/Aprons and Related Areas is hereby adopted as amended in EXHIBIT A attached hereto and made part herein.

 

Section 2. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after the date of signature approval by the Mayor.
