AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE AND ENGINEERING TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH BRIGHTVIEW LANDSCAPES FOR MUNICIPAL LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE, WAIVING SECOND READING AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, the Council previously granted permission to the Administration to bid the Municipal Landscape Contract; and
WHEREAS, on April 15, 2022, bids were opened and reviewed; and
WHEREAS, the lowest and responsible bidder is Brightview Landscapes, with a bid price of $159,136 per year; and
WHEREAS, the term of the contract is for the remainder of 2022 and two (2) full calendar years thereafter, ending December 31, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the contract includes two (2) separate, consecutive renewals of one (1) year each upon written mutual agreement of both parties: January 1, 2025 - December 31, 2025, and January 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026, respectively; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends passage of the Ordinance as an emergency measure immediately necessary to the preservation of public peace, safety, health, and welfare of the City in order to keep up with efficient operation and management of the City’s services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service and Engineering is authorized to award and the Mayor is authorized to enter into contract with BRIGHTVIEW LANDSCAPES 6530 W CAMPUS OVAL, SUITE 300, NEW ALBANY, OH 43054 for municipal landscape services, attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and made part herein.
Section 2. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble, this Ordinance is declared an emergency, which shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of the signature of approval by the Mayor.
