TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO SIGN AN EXTENSION AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED STEEL, PAPER & FORESTRY, RUBBER, MANUFACTURING, ENERGY, ALLIED INDUSTRIAL, AND SERVICE WORKERS INTERNATIONAL, LOCAL 9110; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.
BODY
WHEREAS, the current extension agreement is set to expire on March 31, 2017; and
WHEREAS, the extension agreement will continue the terms of the 2016 agreement through May 26, 2017 to allow time for negotiations; and
WHEREAS, it is critical for the orderly flow of business that this agreement be entered into as soon as possible, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into an Extension Agreement with UNITED STEEL, PAPER & FORESTRY, RUBBER, MANUFACTURING, ENERGY, ALLIED INDUSTRIAL, AND SERVICE WORKERS INTERNATIONAL, LOCAL 9110; said Agreement attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That this Extension Agreement shall expire on May 26, 2017.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this Ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
